Blog Goals for 2015

Tiffany and Nina recently started this new blogging group, The Blogging Elite. I joined in hoping to get some feedback, info, and overall blog-writing optimism. So far, I haven't been disappointed. The group has already grown so much! This is the first link-up for the year (first link-up ever actually) and I decided to take part.

I've already said a bit about what I hope to do for 2015 on this post. But if I'm to get cereal about blogging this year I figured I should have some more concrete goals.

1.) Get More Followers - Being a part of The Blogging Elite and the Texas Women Bloggers groups has helped me get some followers across all my social media platforms. I hope that will bring people to my blog and they'll be able to find something they like and stay reading.

2.) Make A Site Map - I've had Google Analytics and Webtools for a while but I've never bothered getting a sitemap done. I tried the other day and it seemed a bit involved so hopefully by the end of the year I'll have one all done up.

3.) Do A Guest Post - This one is already set to be done. I am scheduled to do a guest post on two different blogs and I couldn't be more thrilled!

4.) Post More Recipes - I cooked a lot last year. I mean, a lot. And yet I didn't post many recipes. This year I hope to get my recipe template down and keep everyone up-to-date on the latest and greatest (and sometimes epic fails) that happen in my kitchen.

5.) Get Personal - I have mentioned a few things about my life here but nothing too deep or personal. Yet, some of those posts have the most views. I've always been quiet and shy so even though I have a blog I've had a hard time letting people know too much about me. I don't think I'll ever spill ALL my life onto here but maybe a bit more would be a good thing.

6.) Amazon Associates - I signed up for, and am getting the hang of, Amazon Associates but I still don't know all the tips and tricks. I'm sure one night of looking at it to death will help.

I'm sure there will be other smaller goals that pop up. But for now these are the biggies I want to work on for the year.

  3. Hey Karen, isn't the Blogging Elites just great? Amazon Associates is a way to help you monetize on your blog. As I said, I don't know much about it. But you add some of their HTML to your blog so that people will click and buy.

  4. Thanks Rosemond, maybe we can help each other. There are just so many things to take into consideration when you start blogging!

  5. Great blog goals! I would like to start posting more recipes too and brush up on my photography skills. I know that would drive a lot more traffic through Pinterest. Have a great 2015 blog year!

  7. I need to make a habit of making more recipes I find on blogs and pinterest. Pasta and pancakes are my specialty. But I definitely look forward to seeing your recipe posts! These are amazing goals. Thanks for linking up! ;)

  9. Thanks! I'd like to see your goals as well and how you implement them.

  10. Pasta and pancakes are the best! I found that the more I cook the more I love it. Though cleaning up afterward is the worst!

  11. The photography and recipe thing is so true! I know I click on a lot of those pins. I've had a fancy camera for ages but our house is old so getting the pictures just right can be time consuming. I definitely need to learn how to better utilize all the settings.

  12. Thanks Olivia, I would love to do a guest post. I added you to Bloglovin and will definitely take a more in-depth look at your blog but what I've seen - I've loved.

  13. I have a billion drafted recipes from years past as well, so much so that it dates back to when I didn't care about whether or not the food photos looked pretty, so now I gotta make em' all over again, haha. :P I need to figure out Google Analytics!

  14. Same! Half the time I forget to take pictures or I lose the original recipe. Analytics can be really simple to read but also really complicated if you want it to be. I don't have many readers so mine looks pretty bleak right now. But it does come in handy. There are tons of tutorials on Google. They're really great wutg helping with any of their products.

  15. I'm so happy that you're loving The Blogging Elite! I definitely think we have a great group of people so far, and everyone seems to be really friendly and keen to meet other bloggers. I'm happy that you've gained some followers through it. I would love to post recipes on my blog too, but I'm so bad at taking pictures of food. I don't know how to make it look appealing. If you have any tips, I'd love to hear them! Good luck with all of your goals this year!

  16. The Blogging Elite is great. Tons of fun people and everyone seems OK with helping out. When it comes to food pictures it's all about plating and lighting. I take a lot of my food outside since I don't have great indoor lighting or a lightbox to enhance it. It's mostly just trial and error too. The more you do it, the more you figure it out.

  17. Those are great goals! Guest posting is great, not only because it brings traffic to your blog, but also because you get to develop relationships with the blogger you post for.

  18. Oh definitely. Building relationships and making friends is the best part of blogging.

  19. Great posts, Valerie! I am like you and tend to be on the shy/reserved side and when I started my blog I did the same thing and didn't write too much about myself. Then I joined a blog challenge where they challenged you post some personal topics and it was VERY hard!! But, like you said you've seen...those posts rendered the most comments and engagement, so I'm putting more of myself in the content, which is sometimes hard, but so far it's been okay! Good luck on your goals!!

  20. Thanks Vicky! Maybe I'll sign up for a challenge like that. I'm a little nervous but also looking forward to it. I know I'll find some interesting bloggers and people who share my view.
