Boardwalk on Bulverde

Today, I made my first trip out to Boardwalk on Bulverde one of San Antonio's food truck hot spots.

Today they were having a Food Truck Throw Down wherein there would be more trucks than usual with 10% of the proceeds going to Breast Cancer research. Today seemed a great day to check it out.

We got there at about 7:30pm so it was only about 90 degrees outside and so humid just walking from the parking lot to the boardwalk made us all sweaty. But there were tons of specialty food trucks surrounding the tables covered by oversized umbrellas. Beer, Wine, Snow Cones, Slushies, and tons of great food to help us forget the heat.

We walked around taking in all the trucks and perusing their menus. Finally we decided to get a pizza and split it among the four of us.

Primo Passo Pizzeria

The fun part about going to these food truck spots is going with friends who don't mind sharing food. Because there are so many different types of foods that you'll never be able to try (and finish) it all. With friends you each get a slice of pizza (split the cost) and are still able to hit other trucks and gorge yourself.

Another fun part is looking at the way the trucks decorate their trailers. This one was my favorite. It looked like something out of a cartoon.
R&R Chicken Wings.

Though all of the trucks do a great job of showing exactly what they are cooking within.

KC's Cones
What I absolutely loved about KC's was that their snow cone cup sizes weren't the usual small, medium, or large but rather A-DD. So ordering a C Cup or a DD cup sized snow cone just adds to the experience.

So I had some pizza from Primo Passo, a sandwich from Spice Runner, a yard of Trashy 'Stache from Winery on Wheels and a snow cone from KC's Cones.

After trying all new food I was fully satisfied and with the band playing some country music I was totally in the mood to sit back, relax with the dropping temperatures, and make room for more seconds but we had to leave so that I could get to work on time.

And lastly, for your viewing pleasure:
