Hello 26!

Today is my 26th birthday. I'm pretty excited because I'm OFF and I'm looking forward to my three-day weekend!

I'm still not sure what we're going to do. I'm thinking of watching The Hunger Games - Mockingjay Part 1. Then later do some drinks and food downtown. But that plan isn't set in stone.

I got some pretty awesome things for my birthday.

Birthday Presents

1. Classic Bombshell Pinup Tank in Coral from LeBomb Shop
2. Flamingo Full Skirt from Dressed to Kill Clothing
3. Basic Black Crinoline from Cats Like Us
4. Claire Scrunch Flat in Menswear from Payless
5. Martha Stewart Enameled Cast Iron 6 Quart Casserole in Teal from Macy's
6. Keurig Elite K40 in Red from Walmart

I'm not very good with waiting patiently so I've had these for a while already. Some of them have already been used...more than once. I'm looking at you, Keurig.

My parents bought me the dutch oven and my mum and I used it to make some Chicken Pozole Verde the other day.

It came out really delicious. The day we made it, it was actually a tad bit chilly so it put the warmth back into our bones. The recipe was pretty easy and when I get a chance I'll post it on here.

I also received my first Stitch Fix box. Out of the five things they sent me I liked three so I'm pretty excited to try them out again. Unfortunately I got the package on Wednesday (the day before Thanksgiving) and tried the stuff on really quickly so that I could send the package back and I wouldn't be charged for everything. Which means I didn't get to take pictures and fashion them for the blog. I KNOW, I KNOW! Missed opportunity!  But I did buy a sexy wool dress that I'm excited to have an opportunity to wear. I'll definitely post pictures of that in the near future as well.

I just seriously can't believe that it's already the end of November. There's only one more month to go to this great 2014 year. I know it will be busy with work, fun stuff, holiday shopping, and my favorite - New Year's Eve but for now I'm just going to enjoy my birthday.

My 25th Birthday

Well this birthday turned out a lot better than the last few.

As I already mentioned Lauren, her BF, John, and I celebrated my birthday on Sunday by going to Kathy Griffin.

I worked all week looking forward to my birthday on Black Friday.

So yes, that means I worked Thanksgiving but even then I got two Thanksgiving dinners! (But no apple pie) After work John and I went to one of his friend's house. They sang Happy Birthday to me at midnight which was pretty weird....but totally awesome!!!

The next day John and I went to my mum's to eat burgers at BurgerFi and go Target shopping. On her side of town there weren't that many shoppers. But when we came back to our side of town, John decided he wanted to look for a jacket, so we went to the mall and it was CRAZY. Like crazy people who would just rush past you and leave things on the floor and reverse out of their parking spot without looking back.

The line to Old Navy wrapped around twice! It was ridiculous. So we NOPEd right on out of there.

We came home, ate some soup and rented Now You See Me, which we both thought was A.MAZE.ING.

Then John rang up a friend of his to see what was up. They were at a bar right down our street so we jumped in the car and drove a minute.

We drank and John and his friend played pool while I talked to John's friend's girlfriend. The drinks were cheap but only until 11 so after that we ended up downtown at the Basement.

Neither John nor I had ever been there. It was pretty cool. They have separate rooms so those who want to dance can get their jiggy thing on while those who want to chill out and play pool and watch Community with the subtitles on - can do that too.

I tried a Kamikaze for the first time ever...and it was GROSS. Ha. Never again.

I had some drinks, was feeling pretty good but whenever I got something I didn't like I passed it on to John.

So....even though it was my birthday he was the one who ended up looking like this the next morning.

So it was a pretty fun birthday. And then John made it even better by MAKING me a gift.

He's the best.

I was talking about the owl but John's pretty cool too.

Kathy Griffin!

Sunday was the day of our double date. Me, John, Lauren, and her BF. They were kind enough to pick us up at our house (since we live close to downtown) and drive us.

Before our show at 9:30 we went to Moses Roses Hideout

Sunday was super cold and rainy. So for Texas that means it was like 40 degrees...and rainy. The bar was pretty empty. We had a few drinks, a few shots, and then walked to the Majestic

Lauren had gotten us some really good seats. But then it got even more amazing because....

Which meant that they had to fill up any seats that were empty. And we got picked to move up!!!

We ended up in the 6th row! It was totally amazing.

As you can imagine, Kathy Griffin was totally hilarious, completely irreverent, and made fun of everyone.

Be on the lookout for her special and if you see me laughing let me know!

John's Birthday Week

Last Wednesday John turned the big 2-5. He's sooooo old now. I like to give gifts in themes; this year's birthday theme was Superman.

I made this. Apparently his head is too big. Lesson Learned: Don't give art to an artist.

Because his birthday fell in the middle of the week we didn't do anything big then, but instead waited until Friday night to party with friends.

So even though we were waiting until Friday, on Wednesday we went to Revolution Room/Leon Bar. They just got a new (at least new to us) outdoor patio deck. There they had a singer/songwriter doing originals and covers.

There we bought some tasty, amazing, delicious dry rub wings from Wayne's Wings food truck. I had never had them before but oh my glob they were amazing. We drank some beer, pondered over the fact that we're always awkward in public, then went home.

Thursday night we had planned on going to Tucker's because we heard that they play jazz sometimes but it was dead by the time I got out of work. Instead we drove through downtown and stopped at some murals where I took street art pictures.

Friday night John invited his friends over. Even though our apartment is tiny it was a lot of fun. Even though parties (especially ones in small spaces) can freak me out I didn't feel that since all of John's friends are awesome.

Saturday we were supposed to go to the beach but our plans fell through. Which to be honest wasn't too bad as I woke up Saturday completely late and hungover. After waking we went to get some barbacoa, watched some Breaking Bad making sure to leave the curtains closed and the lights off. At night we went ended up going to see Turbo.

Sunday started off slow and lazy. Then, after some new-found energy we went to the San Marcos outlets to go shopping. I love shopping! I bought a dress and some polka dot shorts. (I am crazy obsessed with polka dots). John got some stuff too so it ended up being a fun, productive day. For dinner we ended up at his cousins who made him wear this awesome hat.

Mad Men Style

Saturday was Robert's birthday, or as he says, hatching. I had work the night before which meant coming home at 630am and sleeping until 1pm, which was perfect because Robert had gone out with his friends the night before and wasn't going to be up any earlier either.
