Isla and the Happily Ever After - Stephanie Perkins

Isla and the Happily Ever After
Author: Stephanie Perkins
Published by: Dutton

This books is considered part three in a series but it can definitely be read as a standalone novel.

Isla has been crushing on Josh for years. When she sees him in a cafe in New York, the painkillers she's been given for her wisdom teeth removal embolden her to go up and talk to him. The night seems to have ended well, but she doesn't see him again until months later at their boarding school in Paris. They have a few classes together, eventually start talking, and then going out. Things seem to be great until they aren't. Things like parents, school, friends, and lots of detention get in the way.

I loved this book. I was squealing and squeeing throughout the entire thing. I might like it a bit more than others because this story reminded me a lot of  the way John and I ultimately got together.

This book, is completely and totally, a romantic story. It was pretty easy to figure out the hardships and ending but it didn't detract from the story. I still continued reading because Perkin's ability to capture the tiniest moments of a new relationship and make them feel grand was amazing. You'll finish reading it on a giggly high.

I was totally in love with Josh. His artsy-ness, his little bit of rebellion, his ability to bring Isla out of her shell. He was the perfect amount of charming and wit with romance to boot. So sexy. Who wouldn't have a crush on him!

If you're looking for a feel-good, totally predicable, happily-ever-after story set between New York and Paris, then this book should be next on your list.

I give it 5 out of 5 cateyes.

  2. It is seriously the cutest! I read it without knowing that it is technically part three in a series but you can definitely read it alone. Though I am going to be reading the first two because this one was so cute.

  4. It's a super cute book! I'm sure you'll love it. Sure you can use the cateyes. I use popcorn for movies and had no idea what to use for books and then I was like...well I can't read without them - so cateyes it is.
