My First Sunday Social

I've been seeing this on other blogs and  I thought it would be an easy way to pass the weekend when I don't really have anything to write about.

So here is my first Sunday Social.

1. What is your favorite breakfast food?
Cereal. Definitely cereal. Any kind of cereal. Except the dumb, tasteless, cardboard healthy ones.

2. What is the best way to spend a free day?
Depends on the weather and my mood.
Sunny? Maybe going outside to sit and read.
Rainy? Inside with Netflix.
Cold? Inside with Netflix.
Maybe cross stitch a thing or two?

3. If you had an airline ticket to anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Damn. I've never been out the US so I would really love to go ANYWHERE. Maybe London or Spain. Or Italy. Or...Peru. Or Australia. I'd go literally anywhere.

4. You can only leave the house with one thing, what is it?
My phone. It does everything!

5. How do you take your coffee?
Through an IV. But really, cream no sugar.

My Lyra Experience

I can already cross one thing off of my 2014 Bucket List - Doing something new but out of my comfort zone.

What did I do, you ask. Well I tried out a Lyra class.

Lyra, or aerial hoop, is basically a metal hula hoop that dangles from the ceiling for the intent of doing acrobatics on it.

Now, you may not know this but I am insanely clumsy, totally klutzy, and not at all graceful or athletic, but I really wanted to try this class.

I signed up at a place called Soft Sensuous Moves, which offers Ladies Only sensual exercise and fitness classes including aerial yoga, lyra, and pole aerobics.

I admit that I was a bit intimidated at first, especially arriving in my old, shitty workout pants and a plain T-shirt but once I went in and saw women of all different sizes and shapes I became more comfortable.

The class caps at 8 so it's a very hands-on, intimate class. Only one girl had ever tried the class before so the rest of us were a bit hesitant but excited to try it out.

The teacher was a petite woman who has nine years of aerial experience. She was very thorough and very helpful. She made the hardest of things look insanely easy and she looked super sexy doing it all. While the rest of us tried to struggle through the motions she'd remind us to -smile! - and we'd try through our grimaces.

We learned how to get on and off the lyra, how to pose on it, how to turn on it and various other things. It was really a lot of fun.

I was most definitely the worse person in the class. I am not at all flexible and it was kind of a challenge trying to put my leg so far up just to get it in the hoop. The teacher had me stand on a yoga block!

Though most women don't focus on upper body strength, with the lyra it's definitely needed. My arms, shoulders and back were sore the next day. In hindsight I realized that I probably should have gotten in a good stretch before.

But despite being the worse person in class and looking like a complete and total idiot - I had a lot of fun. My hands were raw and red, my hips hurt from trying to balance on the hoop, my arms ached, and yet I really want to do it again.

I'm going to do some push-ups, try to attempt a pull-up, and try getting through the first rung on the monkey bars as practice so that the next time I do it I'll be able to dazzle everyone with my strength and flexibility.

I hope that in just a few short weeks you'll be able to hire me for your weddings and parties.

Totally kidding on that.

2014 Bucket List

So, every year I make a bucket list of things I want to do within the year. Nothing like resolutions, just fun stuff that I haven't done before or fun things I want to do again.

Last year's bucket list looked like this:

  • Finish my sleeve.
  • Take a road trip.   -- John and I went to Roswell, New Mexico!
  • Cook dinner for friends.
  • Karaoke bar.
  • Wink at a stranger.
  • Waste a night playing pool.
  • Go kayaking.
  • Weld something.
  • Finish paying off my student loans.
  • Go somewhere new.

So, 2013 wasn't that great of a Bucket List year. That's the way things go some times. I don't feel bad about it. I think I did plenty of great things in 2013 that you can see here

This year my 2014 list looks something like this.

Well, wouldn't you know that two months into 2014 and I've already done one thing on the list! What did I do?

It's called Lyra and tomorrow I'll write a whole post dedicated to my experience.

My Top Five

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's day yesterday and I hope you  had a chance to get two-for-one lattes at Starbucks yesterday.

I did. And I drank them both.

John got me some flowers and chocolate covered strawberries which we ate while watching Don't Trust the B In Apartment 23.

Since Valentine's Day is all about love and chocolate I thought I'd talk about plain ol' lust today. So I'm talking about my Top Five Freebie list.

For those who don't know what the the Top Five Freebie list is - I'm going to tell you to watch Friends and tell me all about it because I've never seen the episode. From what I understand you have a list of top five celebrities you can have sex with, without any sort of repercussions.

So after a bit of thought and some fine-tuning I've narrowed down my celebrity crushes to this sort-of definitive Top Five.

1. Christoph Waltz.

You probably know him from Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained. I like him because he speaks French, German, and English fluently. When they made Basterds in other countries, he dubbed his own voice in those versions. Hot! Also, he has glasses and a beard.

2. Robert Downey Jr.

Most recently known as Iron Man and Sherlock Holmes; RDJ is like the bad-boy you've always wanted without having to worry about him stealing your car or ODing on your lawn. At least not this version. Of course RDJ is married and has been married to his wife Susan for.ev.er and attributes her love and understanding to helping him be drug free. His stability with his wife and that beard?! Cute!

3. Chris O'Dowd

I first saw Chris in the British TV series The IT Crowd. Besides loving the show I loved the way Chris towers over everyone with his height and his beard. Now, I see and love him on Moone Boy. Still towering over everyone with that beard! His dorky attitude and humor make him irresistible.

4. Jon Stewart.

Not only is Jon Stewart hilariously funny, he's also informed, smart, and -when he's directing - beardy. I think I see a definite trend on this list. Sure Jon Stewart probably isn't the best way to get informed about the world but he's definitely one of the best things to watch while being told numbers and figures and things.

5. Tom Hardy

Mmm. Tom Hardy is rugged, tattooed, and super sexy. Born in England, he has an accent that most American girls love (this one included). His arms make me feel that he'd be able to carry me out of a burning building. And of course! The beard.
